| The information contained in this part
of the website is very old. It was written in the mid to late 1990's and
since I moved back from Japan I have had neither the information nor the
inclination to update it. Some of the information may be valid and some may have changed. The one thing that hasn't changed is that 99% of the people who go to make animation, who think that it is their ultimate career and somehow they will be great and famous, end up either not getting into the industry or running away from it with their tails between their legs. I wish that wasn't true and that making anime and living in Japan was a purely magical experience and that the Japanese welcomed me with open arms. I was young enough and ignorant enough to think it would be and obsessed enough that I did what I did there. My honest hope is that someday somebody from the US or Canada or wherever will become a success again in the anime industry and stay there and make wonderful things. People often say that the tone of these pages is very negative. It is. What you see here was written by someone who was living in a lot of pain and surrounded by negativity and suffering. I had to leave Japan and get my head on straight before I lost all that negativity. Maybe you'll do better. I hope so. Let me know if you do. For up to date excellent information on immigration and many other matters definitely check out @ @ @ |
